Nicholas is rewarded for being an amazing volunteer.
12th June 2017
Congratulations Nicholas Jackson on being chosen as British Heart Foundation’s North East region’s “Young volunteer of the year.”
Nick has been volunteering at his local British Heart Foundation charity shop in Stockton every weekend and in his holidays. Every year the Foundation nominate one person from their shop as their “Volunteer of the Year”. This year Nick was chosen. The Area Manager then chooses a candidate from each of the shops in the area to be put forward in the region. The Regional Manager then chooses a winner from the 72 shops she manages throughout Teesside, Tyne & Wear, Northumberland, Cumbria and Yorkshire. Out of all the volunteers in 72 shops Nick has won and was presented with his “Young Volunteer of the Year” certificate on Friday 9th June. The photographs show him with his certificate and also outside his shop with all his work colleagues.
He has done all this himself – he rang the shop up and asked if they needed any volunteers, he then attended an interview and started the next week and has continued to do so ever since. In his managers own words “he is the only volunteer to listen to what I say and carry out my requests to the letter, he will do anything that is asked of him and the customers are full of praise for him, saying how polite and helpful he is.”
