HSAT scoop £1.3 million EFA capital funding

8th May 2014

Horizons Specialist Academy Trust scoops nearly £1.3 million to refurbish Westlands School and Westlands @ Green Gates

Following successful bids to the Education Funding Agency (EFA) the children and young people who attend Westlands School and Westlands at Green Gates are going to have up to date and modern facilities.

Westlands School is going to have a total redesign and refurbishment of one half of the school, incorporating a state of the art science room, food technology room and art room, while Green Gates is going to have two redundant outdoor spaces turned into fit for purpose facilities, one being a room for children and their parents/carers to meet with a range of support professionals in a comfortable and private environment and the other an outdoor garden to be used as a therapeutic environment.

Elizabeth Horne, Executive Headteacher said "I am delighted that the bids to the EFA were successful, Westlands School has been in need of updating for several years, the positive impact that this will have for the young people who attend there will be tremendous and the two new spaces at Green Gates will help to support our primary children and their parents/cares."

Work starts on both schools in the next few months and will be completed by March 2015.
