Students from Westland’s Residential unit showed their charitable side in a series of events to help raise funds for a local charity. The young people involved devised several activities which included a mini triathlon, a car wash and a Coffee, Cake and raffle evening. The first event was a test of fitness and stamina in a mini Triathlon which included 10 lengths swimming, a 3 mile run and finishing with a 2 mile bicycle ride. 7 students took part with each one finishing the gruelling course in less than 2 hours.
The next event to take place was a Car Wash and some of the vehicles turning up for the event certainly gave the young people the wow factor and included a Hot Rod, Mercedes, BMW’s and the latest eco-friendly car from BMW the very sporty i8 Hybrid. The Car wash proved to be very popular and attracted great support from the local community as well as local businesses Marton-Blueline Taxi’s, Elite Refinishers and Cooper Teesside BMW.
Lastly there was a Coffee, Cake and raffle evening held at the Residential unit which was also very well attended. The night was a great success with raffle prizes, Cakes and loom Bracelets all supplied by parents, family and friends of the residential unit being sold to help raise funds.
The Children of Westland’s residential unit would like to thank everyone who supported their fund raising events which raised over £400 for The Butterwick Children’s Hospice, which we are going to present to them at the Hospice on Thursday 27th November
Well done to all of our students
