Busy English Department
12th February 2016
We have had a very busy week in the English Department this half term. We have teamed up with Drake’s bookshop in Stockton town centre. Richard who runs the shop is now supplying us with books at a reduced prize, but more importantly he is promoting reading in school. He arranged for Peter Brunton a local author to come in to school to meet and talk to the year 7 students, who thoroughly enjoyed their experience.
We have also had a visit to Newcastle Theatre Royal. A group of students from Walker, Sheraton and Stephenson travelled up to Newcastle, walked across the Millennium Bridge admiring all the local landmarks, before arriving at the theatre to watch An Inspector Call. The students sat for two hours enthralled as the action unfolded. Everyone enjoyed the experience and loved the play, which is brilliant as some of the students are studying the play for GCSE English Literature.
Next half term we will be celebrating World Book Day, so look out for our next report.
