Abbey Hill Academy welcomes English work at home.
10th June 2015
Alison Brumwell has introduced a number of new ideas to the English department since arriving at Abbey Hill in September. One of the main initiatives has been the development of the use of iPads.
School would like to make parents and carers aware of two programmes that students can access at home which they will be encouraged to work on.
Lexia is a programme proven to increase reading and comprehension skills, which is used in English lessons. The ideal amount of time for this reading programme is three, twenty minute sessions per week.We would like as many students as possible to access this at home.
Abbey Hill Academy has also recently purchased Spellodrome which is a spelling programme. We would like students to work on this for thirty minutes per week.
Students will be bringing letters home over the next week with their log in details. Parents and carers can support students learning through regularly encouraging them to do their English work at home.
