Horizons Specialist Academy Trust consists of eight academies and one sixth form across the Tees Valley and North Yorkshire area serving a population in excess of 1000 students with a broad range of learning difficulties.
Hollis Academy is situated in Middlesbrough and provides for up to 85 pupils aged 11 to 16 years who have SEMHD as their identified primary need. Hollis Academy joined the Trust in October 2016 as a sponsor academy. Since that time, rapid progress towards improvement has been realised due to the commitment of the staff team and senior leadership team and was rated as Good in our most recent Ofsted.
We are seeking to appoint a Teacher of ICT to join our team at Hollis Academy. We are looking for a teacher who is passionate about inspiring young people through technology, and has the patience, resilience and creativity to join our supportive and forward-thinking team. This is a unique opportunity to deliver engaging, practical ICT lessons that equip our students with essential life skills and open doors to future opportunities. Previous experience of working with young people with SEMH or additional learning needs would be an advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high quality, differentiated ICT lessons across Key Stage 3 and 4.
- Support students in developing functional and vocational ICT skills, BTEC, Open Awards
- Collaborate with pastoral and therapeutic staff to support pupils’ emotional and social development.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment with the ability to enhance the ICT curriculum i.e. to include the use of music production software as a creative and therapeutic tool.
